BENEFITS OF LOW CARB/SUGAR LIFESTYLE

Weight loss & Diabetic Control-The most significant benefit of a low carb lifestyle is sustained weight loss.  In some cases people have been able to reverse their Type 2 Diabetes by following a low carb lifestyle.  Take a look at the work of the low carb GP,  Dr David Unwin  https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/evidence/

OTHER BENEFITS INCLUDE: Heart Disease Prevention, lowering blood pressure, cholesterol, easing pain in fibromyalgia, arthritis, helping ease mental health problems, reversing Fatty Liver.

SO WHAT IS A LOW CARB LIFESTYLE

  • Reduce Sugar intake as much as possible. That means not just the sugar YOU add to your food/drinks but hidden sugar in fizzy drinks, cakes, biscuits & processed foods. Excess sugar is turned straight into Triglyceride (bad fat) in the liver.
  • Eat Real Food. Go back to basics. This means nothing out of a packet, stay away from processed foods.  A quick guide, if it’s in a packet with a list of ingredients, buy something else. Avoid ALL junk food.
  • Reduce how much Starchy Carbs You Eat. Starchy carbohydrates are basically concentrated sugar.  They quickly turn to sugar in your stomach (giving you a massive sugar high) and can cause inflammation.  This means you need to cut down on all Bread, Rice, Potates & Pasta.
  • Download the “Freshwell” app to your phone – lots of great information on following a low carb lifestyle with a traffic light system on food, a meal planner to follow & lots of other useful information. For more information on the science & benefits of following a low carb diet for better health, take a look at https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/

Dr Michael Mosley & his wife Dr Clare Bailey have written some very good low carb / fast keto recipe books – take a look at thefast800.com & you can follow Clare on Instagram @drclarebailey for tips & recipes.

Jessie Inchauspé (a scientist), is on a mission to translate cutting-edge science into easy tips to help people improve their physical and mental health. She’s the founder of the very popular Instagram account @GlucoseGoddess where she teaches thousands of people about healthy food habits. Her book Glucose Revolution is full of helpful hints & scientific tips on how to reduce your body absorbing sugar.
