Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men.

The prostate is a small gland in the pelvis and is part of the male reproductive system.

A blood test, called a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test, measures the level of PSA and may help detect early prostate cancer.

PSA tests are not routinely used to screen for prostate cancer, as results can be unreliable. Your PSA level can also be raised by other, non-cancerous conditions.

Contact your GP if you are experiencing symptoms.

If you are over 50, of black or mixed ethnicity, or have a family history of prostate cancer, you can also contact your GP to discuss having a PSA test. You can calculate your risk via the link below.
